Research overview
The School of Life Sciences has many research groups doing pioneering work in genetics, ranging across a broad diversity of relevant topics. These are divided below into opportunities in genetic analysis relevant to ecology and evolution, and research on human and medical genetics.
Research facilities
The School of Life Sciences is at the cutting-edge of many research areas and has modern facilities.
We have excellent facilities for genomics and post genomics including micro-arrays, sequencing, proteomics, imaging, mouse and zebrafish transgenics, model organisms (bacteria, yeast, worms, flies, arachnids, fish, amphibians, crustaceans and mammals) and bioinformatics.
We also foster interactions and discussions of current research with several internal themed discussion groups which include postgraduates, postdoctoral fellows and academic staff. We provide an environment for pursuing research in a fruitful and productive fashion leading to further development as scientists.
