Research overview The three or four year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVetMed) and Doctor of Veterinary Surgery (DVetSurg) degrees offer a programme comprising a taught component of one year, and one or more major research projects over a minimum of a further two years. You are expected to complete taught modules at masters level in research methods, critical appraisal of literature and research planning. In addition, you are required to submit a research thesis. As a DVetMed or DVetSurg student, you will be allocated to a supervisor, or supervisors. Progression through the period of study is closely monitored through regular meetings with the students' supervisory committee and by reviews with an internal postgraduate progress committee in years one and two.
