This course allows you to customise your degree by combining a broad range of subjects from English language and literature or by specialising in a chosen area. It offers increased flexibility and the latest methods in online distance learning.

If you want to develop your specialism or study what you love, but without the constraints of a set curriculum, the MA Applied English is for you.
Our distance learning goes beyond traditional modules and essays. Now you can study ‘pods’, non-credit bearing segments of study, created by subject matter experts.
You can choose pods from across our different MA courses (listed below) to create a path that’s unique to you. This means you will graduate with an MA in Applied English. Alternatively, you can specialise by choosing pods from a specific MA pathway, meaning you will graduate in one of the MA courses listed below. To specialise, you must choose six pods plus the dissertation/research project from one area.

A postgraduate degree from the School of English at the University of Nottingham shows potential employers that you are an intelligent, hard-working individual who is competent and flexible enough to undertake any form of specific career training.
This course will develop your ability to research and process a large amount of information quickly, and to present the results of your research in an articulate and effective way across a range of platforms and outputs.
In your assessments, you will produce work directly connected to careers in teaching, business and communications, digital and creative industries, the media and publishing, policy and more. You will also be well prepared if you are considering a PhD, or a career in academia.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Students who do not meet the entry requirements stated above and students who hold a three-year diploma (Da Zhuan) from a recognised Chinese university with good grades, may be eligible for the University’s pre-Master's Programme delivered on campus at the University of Liverpool International College. Students need to have IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
