The Master of Music degree combines the study of performance, pedagogy, music theory, music history, and scholarly research and writing. Individualized programs, developed in consultation with an advisor, may be developed through the use of electives.
Two-year MM programs are available in brass, conducting, jazz studies, music education (for those entering without certification), music education and piano pedagogy, musicology, percussion, piano, piano and collaborative arts, piano and pedagogy, strings, voice and opera, and woodwinds.
A typical program includes six quarters of piano, recital, repertories, or research; at least one secondary course in piano performance; and other electives. The faculty encourages MM students to perform as frequently as possible while at Northwestern in addition to the mandatory recitals.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students must hold a U.S. bachelor’s degree — or a comparable non-U.S. degree — from a regionally accredited institution. TGS will accept applications from international students with 3-year bachelor's degrees.
