在這里學(xué)什么?
Computational linguists help machines process human language. All the pioneering language-based technologies in use today — search engines, predictive text messaging, speech recognition, machine translation and voice-user interfaces — rely on the work of computational linguists.
Students in the Master of Science in Computational Linguistics can choose to take the program completely online, on campus, or a combination of online and on-campus classes. Some students start the program online and then relocate to the Seattle area to complete the program in person.
It is possible for students to complete the program online in as little as one year, depending on faculty availability and which elective courses a student selects (some electives may not be available within a one-year timeframe). We encourage online students to attend the program's start-of-year orientation in person, if possible; the orientation will be made available on webcast for those who can't make it to campus.
Careers:
As the role of computers and technology grows ever larger in our daily lives, business and industry are increasingly seeking experts in the complicated nexus between humans and machines. Computational linguistics is an academic discipline that directly addresses this need, combining elements of linguistics, software engineering, artificial intelligence and electrical engineering. Professionals trained in this field help machines process human language and help linguists understand language through computer models.
Computational linguists apply their skills in the development of applications related to translation, voice recognition, automated text analysis, search engines and other pioneering technologies.
Job Roles:
Below is a small selection of the job titles that a Master of Science in Computational Linguistics prepares you for:
- Artificial Intelligence Engineer
- Computational Linguist
- Data Scientist
- Language Engineer
- Linguist
- Machine Learning Engineer
- NLP Engineer/Scientist
- Researcher/Research Scientist
