The Nursing Program takes a registered nurse, licensed in Washington State, to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) degree. The courses support students in developing professionally. The program goals, in part, stress communication, critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, enhanced patient care, research and scholarship, health promotion and education, and adapting to changes in the healthcare setting.
Murray Morgan Bridge and Mt. Rainier
For passing the RN licensure exam (NCLEX), UW Tacoma School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership awards advanced placement, which reduces the number of in-residence credits to 45.
Hybrid program:
We're making it easier to turn your registered nursing (RN) license into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. UW Tacoma now offers hybrid (online + on-campus) study options for part-time and full-time students. Our program emphasizes communication, critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, enhanced patient care, research and scholarship, health promotion and education, and adapting to changes in the healthcare setting.
Full-time students on campus just 1 day a week; part-time students on campus 5 times per quarter
On-campus class meetings on Wednesdays; additional coursework online
The full-time BSN:
Students begin in Summer Quarter or Autumn Quarter. Students take between 9-14 credits per quarter over four (4) consecutive quarters.
