The Community Health Sciences department in the Fielding School of Public Health and the Department of Urban Planning in the Luskin School of Public Affairs offer a concurrent plan of study which examines the factors in the social and physical environment that determine community well-being, with social justice a common theme. Common issues arising in research and coursework include access to resources (transportation, healthy food, medical facilities, and jobs); racial/ethnic health disparities; environmental justice; and international health and urbanization issues.
Concurrent students pursue studies in both schools/departments and following three years of full time study earn both the Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health Sciences and the Master of Urban and Regional Planning.
