The Master of Arts will allow you to undertake substantial independent research on your chosen topic while supported by a minimum of two expert academic supervisors. Our Faculty of over 500 academics is committed to train internationally recognised scholars that are passionate about producing cutting edge research and keen to contribute to their fullest capacity to the betterment of society at large. A key strength of our research programs lies in their diversity. This is reflected in our academics who are some of the world’s most inspiring and distinguished researchers.
A Master of Arts requires you to produce a research thesis of up to 40,000 words (or alternative approved outputs). We offer supervision across seven graduate research programs:
Film, Media, Communications & Journalism Historical Studies, including History, Religious Studies, Jewish Studies and Indigenous Studies Linguistics & Applied Linguistics Literary & Cultural Studies, including Creative Writing, Languages and World Literature, Translation and Interpreting Studies Philosophy, including Bioethics Social & Political Sciences, including Anthropology, Criminology, Human Geography, Politics & International Relations, Sociology Gender Studies Theatre, Performance & Music

Entry level 2: Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time (72 points to complete) An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline and a minimum of two years relevant employment. OR An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70. Entry level 3: Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part time (48 points to complete) An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline and a minimum of five years relevant employment. OR An Australian undergraduate honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70.
