Goals of the MSW program: Educate students for "frontier" advanced generalist (MSW) social work practice that is especially relevant to frontier and rural communities; Infuse the concepts of social, economic, and environmental justice, grounded in a commitment to human rights and critical thinking, across the curriculum; Provide students with opportunities to engage in meaningful professional relationships, interprofessional collaboration, and professional development; Create avenues for faculty and student participation in innovative research and scholarship; Provide opportunities for involvement in policy advocacy and social action at the local, state, and national levels; Engage students in the development of practice skills through community-based work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities; and Facilitate learning opportunities to enhance student awareness of diverse cultures and develop the ability to practice in an increasingly globalized society. A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on previous coursework is required for full admission (3.25 for interdisciplinary program applicants).
