Our MSc Water Engineering for Development (Distance Learning) is designed to develop careers for improving the delivery of water supply and sanitation services internationally, with a focus on low and middle-income countries. This is a part-time programme, aligned with our full-time master's of the same name taught at the Loughborough campus. This programme is managed by the Water Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) in the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering whose programmes are well-established and held in high regard by practitioners and employers from international development and emergency sectors. Modules are taught by experts in a broad range of disciplines who have considerable experience of working in low and middle- income countries. The programme will enable you to improve your knowledge, expertise and skills in many aspects of sustainable water supply and sanitation infrastructure delivery and operation. Other topics studied will include flood, groundwater, piped system modelling, and water and wastewater treatment to address the changing needs of the market. It also includes non-technical modules or sessions that broaden your knowledge base and prepare you for future higher managerial roles. On successful completion of this programme, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of international and local initiatives and institutions that promote water and sanitation; the key issues in relation to environmental and social impact in planning and managing sustainable water and environmental sanitation services; the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the management of water and environmental sanitation; the range of appropriate water and environmental sanitation technologies; and the assessment, planning, facilitation, regulation and management of social, institutional, economic and environmental issues to ensure the sustainability and improvement of water and environmental sanitation services. Loughborough attracts and appoints outstanding academics, many of whom are expert leaders in their fields. By studying our MSc Water Management for Development (Distance Learning), you will benefit from working alongside specialists who are enthusiastic about their subjects and at the forefront of current research. Visit the WEDC website for details of our academics and their research expertise. Staff usually interact with individual learners through Skype and/or telephone. This interaction provides you with a stimulating learning experience. Comprehensive resources are available on the online learning environment for each module, including study guidance, highly illustrated unit notes, additional reading materials, ReVIEW Lecture Capture (recordings of class sessions from the equivalent and concurrently running full-time MSc programme), YouTube clips of laboratory procedures and experimental setup, self-assessment questions and answers, and subject specific references and texts. As a part-time distance learning programme, it is designed to fit with your employment commitments. The programme is designed to allow completion within the stated five-year maximum time period by studying one module per semester. 所屬院系 進(jìn)入哪個(gè)院系學(xué)習(xí)?
