SIUC Social Work Mission Statement
The central mission of Social Work at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is the educational preparation of professional social workers in compliance with CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standard (EPAS), who are capable of delivering social services to meet the human service needs within state, national, international, and global context, with a special focus on rural areas. The organizing principle of Social Work is the enhancement of the quality of life for individuals, families, organizations and communities, especially for poor and oppressed populations, through the promotion of social and economic justice and human rights. Student learning is based on theories and knowledge, and the acquisition of professional values, ethics, and skills, which are necessary for competent social work practice. Special emphasis is given to evidence-based and strengths-based practice, especially as it relates to issues of culture and diversity.
Social Work Baccalaureate Program Mission
The Mission of the Baccalaureate Program is the preparation of professionals with generalist practice skills and knowledge that enable them to engage in ethical, responsible, and self-critical social work practice in public and private social service systems.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Students must have completed a high school or equivalent. Academic Requirements (grade point averages are on a 4.0 scale and are calculated by SIU): 26 credits or more at another college/university - submit college/university transcripts showing a GPA of 2.0 or greater on all coursework; 0-25 credits at another college/university - submit high school AND university/college transcripts showing 2.0 GPA on all coursework; 5 Passes on the GCE O or A level exams (under the Cambridge/ed excel model). English Language Requirement: TOEFL - 68 on the internet-based test; TOEFL - 520 on the paper-based test; ITEP - 4.0 (academic plus only); IELTS - 6.0.
