The proliferation of sports programming in both traditional and new media is triggering an increasing demand for graduates with sports production, sports promotion and sports journalism backgrounds.
The School of Journalism and the Radio-Television Department are joined forces to establish specializations in both academic units.
The School of Journalism's specialization has two tracks: one prepares students for sports reporting, the other for sports promotion.
Students learn to report and edit sports news and develop sports promotion programs.
Students in the sports media program take classes in: news writing for print and broadcast; photography; videotaping; media law; editing; graphic design; specialized sports reporting courses.
COURSES
The Sports Media specialization requires 33 credit hours from the following courses, plus two approved JRNL electives.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Students must have completed a high school or equivalent. Academic Requirements (grade point averages are on a 4.0 scale and are calculated by SIU): 26 credits or more at another college/university - submit college/university transcripts showing a GPA of 2.0 or greater on all coursework; 0-25 credits at another college/university - submit high school AND university/college transcripts showing 2.0 GPA on all coursework; 5 Passes on the GCE O or A level exams (under the Cambridge/ed excel model). English Language Requirement: TOEFL - 68 on the internet-based test; TOEFL - 520 on the paper-based test; ITEP - 4.0 (academic plus only); IELTS - 6.0.
