在這里學(xué)什么?
Our School of Accountancy is dedicated to the discovery, interpretation and delivery of knowledge to students, colleagues and the profession.
Accounting involves identifying, measuring and communicating economic information to enable people to make informed judgments and decisions. This type of information is essential to businesses, not-for-profit organizations and others for internal and external purposes.
OUR CURRICULUM
Our flexible curriculum assures that our graduates are prepared for the many available career options including public accounting (Certified Public Accountants, typically requiring 150 hours of college coursework before taking the exam), corporate accounting, not-for-profit accounting and other roles in business consulting and finance. The accounting core, including the essential courses necessary for a solid foundation for future accounting professionals, is required for all accounting students.
ELECTIVES
Our accounting electives give you the flexibility to acquire the diverse and advanced knowledge and skills necessary for the successful pursuit of your individual career goals. Visit the academic advisement page to see the flexible options and electives we offer.
ADVANCED STUDY
While our undergraduate accounting degree prepares students for accounting careers, you must typically have completed 150 hours of coursework to sit for the CPA exam in Illinois and most other states. In addition, most accounting majors continue in the program and pursue their Master of Accountancy degree by completing a fifth year of study. The Master of Accountancy program features specialized courses of study in taxation and audit/systems.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES FOR STUDENTS
Our program provides undergraduate accounting program graduates with the basic understanding of accounting concepts (financial, taxation, auditing, managerial and accounting information systems) such that they can prepare, analyze and communicate accounting information. Students graduating with an undergraduate degree should be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in a business setting. Graduates should also be able to apply their accounting knowledge to unstructured problems and to work effectively in a team environment as well as in a computer-based environment.
