This course is a practical drama and performing programme, which develops you into an independent performance maker able to work inside theatres, schools, galleries, site-specifically and beyond. Your work will be rooted in original ideas decided by you and your fellow students, with an emphasis on rigorous and generous creative practice. Across all three years, students are engaged in a highly practical programme, designed to develop significant skills, ideas and experiences relevant to careers in the theatre industries.
At various points in the programme, we provide classes in: Skills: Movement, Dance, Voice, Devising, Playwriting, New Technologies and Technical Production, Solo Performance, Directing, Workshop Leading, Documenting Performance; Focused Creative Projects: Narrative, Physical and Visual Theatre, Text and Cultural Identity; Clowning, Multi-media, the Body, Site Specific, Theatre in Schools and Audience Interactivity; Production: THREE major staff-led performance events (over the last two years); Critical and Cultural Studies: Introduction to Applied Theory, Modernism, Romanticism and Post Modernism; Professional Development: Company and Business Management, Applied Arts Practice, Work Placement. Our professional development programme, offers a range of formal internships with our professional partner organisations, which ensures our graduates are well-prepared for careers in the cultural industries.
