Equip and enrich the artists of tomorrow with an art education degree from NSU. In our program, you’ll learn advanced visual design skills and use traditional studio media and tools, within the enriching context of a liberal arts curriculum. Graduates are prepared to enter the art field as professional K-12 teachers or to attend graduate school.
In NSU’s studio and lab classrooms, you’ll receive broad exposure to art history, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, painting, drawing, design and mixed media.
All classes are taught by professors and instructors - not graduate students – and our art facilities feature modern safety and health upgrades.
All graduates of this degree program are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA within the major. Students must successfully complete a rigorous senior capstone experience comprising a written thesis, solo exhibition of artwork, and development of an artist's statement of purpose and resume.
CAREERS
NSU art education graduates are set to find employment with public and private schools of all kinds. However, career paths are varied and plentiful. Perhaps more than graduates in any other major, art students are trained in entrepreneurial thinking as self-starters, problem solvers and innovators. Other options include self-employment as professional artists and designers, employment with public and private galleries and museums employment, web-based sales and promotion, and teaching for colleges and community centers.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants to NSU must: Rank in the top 60 percent of their high school graduating class; or achieve an ACT composite score of 18 or above; SAT score of 950 or SAT Reasoning Test Math and Critical Reading sub scores total of 870 or above or Earn a GPA of at least 2.6 on a 4.0 scale in all high school courses and complete the following required courses with a cumulative grade of "C" or higher (GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale): Four years of English or ACT English sub-test score of 18 or above or AP English score of 3 or above; Three years of advanced mathematics: Or ACT math sub-test score of 20 or above or AP calculus score of 3 or above; Three years of laboratory science or ACT science reasoning sub-test score of 17 or above or AP science score of 3 or above. English Language Requirements: TOEFL IBT (61-70 or above); TOEFL PBT (525 or above); IELTS (5.5 or above); PTE Academic (41 or above).
