All classes are taught by professors and instructors - not graduate students – and our digital studio and lab classrooms are equipped for:
Web design Interactive design Digital photography Digital illustration Video design, page design and layout Typography 2D animation, and Motion graphics
Enhancing your hands-on learning and creating experience are iMacs, interactive painting monitors, video cameras and sound and digital equipment.
Crowning this comprehensive program is a senior capstone experience, for which graphic design students complete a written thesis, solo exhibition of artwork, statement of purpose and resume.
NSU’s successful art-graphic design graduates recently have:
- Received the Business Marketing Association Award of Excellence
- Been named a 32 Under 32 Advertising Professional by Ad Fed MN
- Received the Best Packaging Design Award from Graphic Design USA magazine
- Received Best of Temporary Displays awarded by the Point of Purchase Displays International
CAREERS
Northern's art students are trained in entrepreneurial thinking as self-starters, problem solvers and innovators, and career paths are varied and plentiful. For graduating seniors, the senior capstone experience includes practical steps and strategies for career planning.
Art-graphic design graduates are prepared to succeed as self-employed professional digital designers, or with marketing, advertising and design agencies, corporate design careers, web-based sales and promotion, private schools, colleges and community centers.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants to NSU must: Rank in the top 60 percent of their high school graduating class; or achieve an ACT composite score of 18 or above; SAT score of 950 or SAT Reasoning Test Math and Critical Reading sub scores total of 870 or above or Earn a GPA of at least 2.6 on a 4.0 scale in all high school courses and complete the following required courses with a cumulative grade of "C" or higher (GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale): Four years of English or ACT English sub-test score of 18 or above or AP English score of 3 or above; Three years of advanced mathematics: Or ACT math sub-test score of 20 or above or AP calculus score of 3 or above; Three years of laboratory science or ACT science reasoning sub-test score of 17 or above or AP science score of 3 or above. English Language Requirements: TOEFL IBT (61-70 or above); TOEFL PBT (525 or above); IELTS (5.5 or above); PTE Academic (41 or above).
