The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at St. Edward’s University is a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare you for entry into medical, dental or graduate school, as well as for careers in fields as diverse as biomedicine, drug discovery and development, or food science. Over the course of your studies as Biochemistry major, you will
- Focus on cellular processes at the molecular level
- Study components like proteins, lipids, and organelles
- Study how cells communicate with each other or integrate together to promote growth or fight illness
- Explore the chemical processes within and related to living organisms
- Learn about experimental disciplines that use chemical knowledge and techniques to understand and solve biological problems
Major Requirements: The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry requires 72 hours of major courses, which include a combination of chemistry, biology, math, physics and science courses.
General Education Requirements: The degree requires 57 hours of general education courses that students complete over four years in addition to their major courses and electives.
