Students in the Accounting program gain the technical expertise and critical thinking skills to succeed in some of the most diverse and challenging job opportunities in the business world. The Accounting program emphasizes ethical practice, and as students learn and grow in their skillset, they view accounting theory and methods through this lens. Students who earn a bachelor’s degree in Accounting will be able to:
- Apply generally accepted accounting principles to financial data
- Apply individual income tax regulations to specific tax issues
- Understand cost terminology and apply cost accounting techniques to managerial accounting data
- Identify current, required audit practices and procedures
- Apply appropriate accounting information theory and technology in diverse business situations
Combined with experience and credentials such as a CPA, the degree can set graduates on a path toward careers such as a controller, entrepreneur, CFO and CEO.
Major Requirements: The BBA in Accounting requires 39 hours of core business coursework and 21 hours of major coursework.
General Education Requirements: All majors require 57 hours of general education that students complete over the course of four years, in addition to their major courses.
