This major is designed for students who want to teach English at the high school level. After receiving a bachelor’s in language arts, you will have met all the New York State subject area requirements for English 7–12 certification. After completing an M.S.T. program (in as few as three additional semesters), you will be eligible for initial certification and, after three years of experience teaching, professional certification.
Our English program stresses the acquisition of useful, marketable skills that will serve you well here at SUNY Plattsburgh, and far beyond.
