The Master of Science in nursing (MSN) program is for the registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, or a bachelor’s degree in another field and an associate degree in nursing or a diploma in nursing. Salem State University offers two program tracks including nursing education and adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner. The MSN program is designed for working professionals with classes that are offered in the evening and in a hybrid format.
Program Tracks
The School of Graduate Studies offers several options for a master of science in nursing graduate program (MSN):
MSN
Baccalaureate prepared nurses can advance their practice without specializing. The program graduates will be prepared to pursue a post-master’s certificate of their own interest.
MSN and Post-Master's Certificate in Nursing Education
Students who successfully complete this program earn their master’s degree in nursing and are eligible to sit for the Nurse Educator Exam and become Certified Nurse Educators (CNE).
MSN – Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to sit for board exams and earn a certification in adult-gerontology primary care (AGNP-PC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
