The History major offers students the opportunity to become familiar with the long sweep of the human past and the diversity of its cultures. History majors develop close reading skills and the ability to conduct research. Career opportunities for History majors cover a broad spectrum of professional endeavors in both the public and private sectors.
CAREER OPTIONS
The opportunities for graduates in History cover a broad spectrum of professional endeavors. The literacy, broad knowledge, and communication skills of history majors graduating from this program over the years have enabled graduates to pursue a wide range of careers. Some history majors become history teachers or work in museums or historic sites. Many aspiring teachers enroll in FDU’s QUEST program, which permits them to earn both a B.A. degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in five years of study. Many history graduates embark on careers in law, government, or publishing. Many go on to careers in business, where their ability to write and conduct research is highly valued.
