A Master of Science (MS) in industrial engineering from Wichita State will prepare you for high-paying, high-demand career options in design, research, improvement and management of systems in manufacturing and service organizations as well as for success in a future Ph.D. program. You’ll have access to some of the best research facilities in the country and the chance to work and research with faculty and industry professionals on campus and throughout Kansas’ largest city.
The Master of Science in industrial engineering (MSIE) degree enhances the skills of degreed engineers by providing advanced knowledge and skills that are needed to design, model, analyze and manage modern complex systems in order to increase the effectiveness of manufacturing and service sector organizations. Students have opportunities to enhance their knowledge on technical skills such as optimization, production planning, quality, supply chain management, simulation, analytics, reliability, ergonomics, systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, and also on nontechnical skills required for success in their careers. Recent graduates have obtained positions in manufacturing, services and consulting companies.
Curriculum
Student must select a concentration and submit a plan of study during their first semester. Concentrations include:
- Operations Research
- Systems
- Production and Supply Chain Analytics
- Quality and Reliability
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Human Systems Engineering
The program consists of at least 25 credit hours and offers three graduating options: thesis, project or coursework.

為來自中國的學生設計 Applicants for full-standing degree admission to the specialist and master’s programs typically must have: Earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or a recognized institution in another country whose requirements for the bachelor’s degree are substantially equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. The minimum acceptable scores for most programs are: TOEFL - 79 on the Internet-based test, or 550 on the paper-based test. IELTS - minimum overall band score of 6.5 is required. PTE Academic - 58.
