The Master of Arts (MA) in History - thesis program in local and community history - from Wichita State promotes the study of regions, cities, neighborhoods, institutions and organizations. The program equips you with the skills to study these topics in the Wichita area and integrates a traditional history curriculum with specialized classes, applied coursework and field experiences.
Curriculum
The 34-credit-hour program includes core classes, a comprehensive examination and a thesis.
Students may select from the following areas for their comprehensive examinations:
- U.S. History
- The Ancient and Medieval Worlds
- Modern Europe
- Local and Community History
Applied Learning
Students in the MA in history - thesis program in local and community history are required to complete an applied learning or research experience to graduate from the program. The requirement can be met by completing a thesis. Students are also required to take HIST 701 and HIST 725, which are both designed to have an applied learning component. Moreover students may take an internship/cooperative education program.
Careers
A degree in history from Wichita State is great preparation for advanced study in law, political science, history, communications, library science and many other degrees. Graduates have a strong foundation of knowledge for careers in politics, education, the military, foreign service, business and more.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants for full-standing degree admission to the specialist and master’s programs typically must have: Earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or a recognized institution in another country whose requirements for the bachelor’s degree are substantially equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. The minimum acceptable scores for most programs are: TOEFL - 79 on the Internet-based test, or 550 on the paper-based test. IELTS - minimum overall band score of 6.5 is required. PTE Academic - 58.
