The Master of Arts (MA) in communication sciences and disorders (CSD) from Wichita State combines quality classroom instruction with applied learning at the WSU Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, in settings throughout Kansas' health care hub and across the United States. The degree will prepare you to become a certified speech-language pathologist ready for a career in public schools and other diverse settings.
Curriculum
The MA degree offers an emphasis in speech-language pathology. The program requires students to complete 61 credit hours (thesis or non-thesis track) across five or six semesters. Prospective students with an undergraduate degree in another field should review the department website for details on prerequisite coursework ([1] undergraduate CSD courses, [2] ASHA-required foundational courses, namely, social/behavioral sciences, biological sciences, statistics, and a physical sciences course taught by a department of physics or a department of chemistry, and [3] research methods). Please consult a CSD advisor prior to applying to the program.
All students must enroll in a clinical practicum course each semester and complete annual HIPAA training.

The minimum acceptable scores for most programs are: TOEFL - 79 on the Internet-based test, or 550 on the paper-based test. IELTS - minimum overall band score of 6.5 is required. PTE Academic - 58.
