The applied propulsion track for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in aerospace engineering will uniquely prepare you for a career in the turbojet engine industry. At Wichita State, you’ll have access to some of the best aerospace facilities in the country and the chance to work and research with faculty and industry professionals on campus and throughout Wichita, the world’s 'Air Capital.'
Curriculum
The applied propulsion track for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in aerospace engineering requires four courses, totaling 12 credit hours:
- Aerospace Propulsion, a required course for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aerospace Engineering
- Applied Jet Propulsion, taken as a BS in Aerospace Engineering technical elective
- Applied Jet Propulsion Subsystems, taken as a BS in Aerospace Engineering technical elective
- An additional course related to applied propulsion, chosen from one of the following: Rotor Aerodynamics, Compressible Fluid Flow, Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics, Vibration Analysis, Manufacturing Methods and Materials or Aircraft Manufacturing and Assembly.

Applied Learning
Students in the Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering program are required to complete an applied learning or research experience to graduate from the program. The requirement can be met by completing the two-course capstone design sequence (8 credit hours) consisting of AE 528 and AE 628.
