Known as the "Coaching Factory", Southern Utah University has a long history of producing a high-quality physical education program. With bachelor and minor programs available, students can build physical education into their plan for a future career. The physical education and human performance degree in teaching/coaching is a certifiable major and minor approved for secondary teaching licensure at SUU. This degree is intended to provide students who wish to pursue teaching careers with the necessary knowledge, experience and training to become effective and competent teachers and coaches.
The Physical Education degree in Teaching/Coaching is a certifiable major approved for secondary teaching licensure at SUU. Some classes required for the licensure cannot be taken until the teacher candidate has been admitted to the Department of Teacher Education. Second, the PE in Teaching/Coaching major is designed to develop high quality coaches who possess an excellent understanding of coaching. The program of study provides you with understanding in coaching effectiveness, mental preparation and performance in sport, nutrition and conditioning for athletes, skill analysis, and athletic training.
