That’s the world of journalism today: diverse, multimedia and international. And as a Solent journalist, you will have opportunities to explore not just the traditional fields of news, magazines and broadcast but also online platforms, documentary, communications, PR and more.Solent University’s Journalism, Publishing and Public Relations subject area was ranked 17th in the Guardian University League Tables 2019.The range of career options ahead of you is huge. And our journalism graduates can be found in almost every sector of journalism and communications – at the BBC, Sky and other internationally renowned media companies; in digital start-ups, in magazines, PR, politics and corporate comms and marketing.Our journalism students graduate with great analytical and multimedia skills, and a strong grasp of journalistic ethics – plus the professional confidence that will let you jump straight into a graduate job. Intensely career-focused, the course will fast-track your ambition in journalism or any part of the fast-changing media landscape.Real-world experience is vital for your career, so the degree offers work placements and portfolio-building. Plus regular production ‘news days’, where live output including location shooting with mobile phones combines with traditional news production for a digital platform. Our studios, technology and software are state-of-the-art, and among the best in the country.You’ll be taught by industry professionals and academics who’ll help you find your voice, as a writer, director, producer or presenter.
