Develop essential hands-on experience in festival design and management right from your first year, on this highly practical festival management degree.With strong links to the industry and a huge range of opportunities to build your experience on real-world projects, the course is ideal for anyone looking to carve out a career in the dynamic, fast-growing festival and events industry.You can gain industry and practical experience designing and delivering live events for real clients through our in-house events management agency, Solent Works. Student-led and student-run, the agency is your chance to get a real taste for the industry after you graduate.And you will have plenty of other opportunities to develop your professional connections, too. The course team has strong local employer and organisational links, giving you chances to work on cultural, music and arts events across Southampton and the region, such as the city’s Mayflower 400 celebrations.Solent events students are in high demand, working with key industry leaders in festivals and events management; past examples include LiveNation, Festival Republic, and the BBC, with students regularly working at Glastonbury and other nationally recognised festivals. Practical industry experience through designing and delivering live events as part of the course, right from the first year.**What does this course lead to?**The festival management degree will give you a highly valued range of skills that can lead directly into festival management as a career, into event and project management positions, or into careers with charities, local councils or heritage sites looking to engage with their communities.You may also consider being a freelance self-employed event manager running your own events as many of our alumni have done in the past. Whether you wish to join a large established event company, support a community charity or work independently; this course will give you a strong foundation to choose your own path.And the problem solving, teamwork and communication skills you will gain are highly transferable, setting you up well for careers in general management and customer service.**Who is this course for?**Solent’s festival management degree is ideally suited for those interested in developing their event management skills with a focus on festivals in all their diversity – from music, to arts and culture, to food and sport. If you are looking for the creativity to design or run your own festival and events, then this is the course for you.There is no requirement to have previously studied festival or event management, but a desire to learn more and an interest in culture and events is essential.
