Manufacturing robotic components, designing machine elements with 3-D printing, operating computer-controlled manufacturing processes, efficient thermal-management systems and failure-analysis simulation are all part of the discipline known as mechanical engineering technology.
Our faculty have a wealth of real-world experience and are leaders in their respective disciplines. You will be mentored by experienced instructors and train in real-life laboratories and settings, gaining a theoretical and hands-on understanding of what it takes to succeed in a career in advanced manufacturing.
Program Educational Objective One
The program will produce graduates that are successful in their careers in the areas associated with the design, installation, manufacturing, testing, technical sales and marketing, maintenance, quality and other endeavors related to or founded on mechanical principles.
Program Educational Objective Two
The program will produce graduates that advance in their careers and continue their professional development including moving into management and other strategic roles.
Program Educational Objective Three
The program will produce graduates that facilitate engineering technology activities considering the ethical impact on society and the environment.
Graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program will:
a.) Demonstrate an ability to select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mechanical engineering technology to broadly-defined engineering technology activities including proficiency in the analysis, applied design, development, implementation, or oversight of more advanced mechanical components, systems, and processes. b.) Demonstrate an ability to select and apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require the application of principles and applied procedures or methodologies. c.) Demonstrate an ability to conduct standard tests and measurements; to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments; and to apply experimental results to improve processes. d.) Demonstrate an ability to design systems, components, or processes for broadly-defined engineering technology problems. e.) Demonstrate an ability to function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team. f.) Demonstrate an ability to identify, analyze, and solve broadly-defined engineering technology problems.
