The Applied Math concentration focuses on applying mathematical ideas to specific problems in the sciences. Students graduating with an applied math concentration are prepared to go to school for engineering, to work for the government, to analyze data for scientifically oriented businesses, practice mathematical modeling to solve real world problems, or to train as financial analysts.
The Applied Mathematics concentration is an interdisciplinary major that has applications to the physical sciences, statistics, medical research, biological research, environmental studies, economics, actuarial science, teaching operations research, management science, the behavioral and social sciences, education research, and computer science. The successful graduate will be prepared for employment in industry, government, commerce, or further graduate study.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students are preferred to have a 3.0 GPA or above in high school college preparatory courses. High school courses: In preparation for undertaking academic studies at the University, it is recommended that applicants have completed at a minimum the following courses: 4 years English; 4 years History or Social Science; 3 years Mathematics; 2 years Science. Students who have taken the Advanced Placement Examinations of the College Board (AP) or the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) should have the official results forwarded to the Office of Admission. English Language Requirements: TOEFL (IBT) score 70; TOEFL (ITP): score 500; IELTS score 6.0; Cambridge: Score 169; ELS Centers - 110; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) – 48; and CEFR: Score B2.
