The IU South Bend School of Education offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Education with a major in Elementary Education. The Elementary Education program provides coursework and field experiences to prepare future teachers to meet the needs of students in today’s schools. The program is designed to prepare teacher education candidates to teach children in kindergarten through six grades.
Elementary Education candidates are generalists. They take a variety of content courses, professional foundation courses, and method courses to meet the content areas taught in the elementary schools.

English Language Requirements: Minimum TOEFL score of 71 or higher on the internet-based; TOEFL score 530 or higher paper-based exam; IELTS - 6.0 or higher; Pearson Test of English, Academic: 48 or higher; WAEC's Senior Secondary Certificate of Examinations (SSCE): A or B; Ordinary Level Certificate: A or B; Cambridge International O Levels: C or higher; (Test in Practical English Proficiency) "EIKEN": Pre-1 or higher.
