When you major in marine biology at the University of New Haven, you are surrounded by diverse marine ecosystems teeming with life and just waiting to be explored. Starting with your first semester, you will be on and in the water, exploring and learning.
You will have the opportunity to take advantage of our close relationships with local aquariums, museums, nonprofit organizations, and federal and state research laboratories, and you will benefit from faculty-mentored research opportunities.
You will learn about our world's oceans, marine environments and organisms, and how humans interact with these systems in our broad, comprehensive program by:
- Integrating diverse courses as you gain hands-on and research-focused experience
- Studying invertebrate and vertebrate marine animals, marine botany, oceanography, and marine ecology
- Personalizing your course of study to meet your career goals
- Exploring career opportunities within the large and diverse field of marine science
- Complementing your coursework with internships, summer research opportunities, or a yearlong senior research project
- Broadening your horizons as you experience other habitats and cultures through study abroad and study away opportunities. (Students travel to Australia, South Africa, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Gerace Research Centre on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas.)
