在這里學(xué)什么？
A health information administrator (HIA) is an expert in managing medical records. You’ll design and manage health information systems to ensure they meet medical, legal, and ethical standards. You’ll administer computer information systems, collect and analyze patient data, and use classification systems and medical terminologies. Unlike a health information technician, you’ll also manage records departments and serve on administrative committees.
Our HIA degree is selective. Students will need to complete a formal application to the program after completing the health information technology program or obtaining a registered health information technician (RHIT) certification.
As part of the health information administration program, you'll complete supervised professional practice. These internships are completed at a healthcare facility and provide hands-on training and networking.
Accreditation
DSU's HIA program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Our graduates are prepared to take the AHIMA exam to become a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
