Campbellsville University’s online master’s in special education will prepare you for a rewarding career as a special education teacher. You will learn necessary skills and knowledge to work with students who have specific learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders and gain certification to teach in Kentucky. Additionally, you will gain insight into modern trends that are changing special education, including those involving technology. The program is taught by faculty members who have real-world experience in special education.
Through our special education certification online program, you will learn fundamentals of teaching while learning the history of education, as well as the basics to special education while reviewing a case study. In addition, you will explore how to develop lesson plans that include safe behavior interventional strategies that will help improve a student’s behavioral challenges. The program examines curriculum methods for learning and behavioral disorders, behavior and classroom management, educational technology and how to create prescriptive teaching plans.
While the program is in an Option 6 format, you can complete the traditional version of the certification. With the traditional format, you will complete an additional 12 hours of student teaching in which you will complete a videotaped lesson and receive feedback from your professor and a supervising teacher.
Our special education certification online program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The fully online certificate offers the flexibility and convenience of being able to complete coursework when it best fits your schedule.
The Option 6 special education alternative certification online program includes 48 credit hours and can take as little as 18 months to complete. For students who are completing the traditional TRACK 3 program, an additional 12 credit hours of student teaching is required.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students must hold an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association, or have completed equivalent academic preparation as determined by appropriate campus authorities; be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended; have satisfied any one of the following: attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree, or attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 60 semester units (90 quarter units) attempted. English language requirements: TOEFL - Minimum of 80 iBT; IELTS - Minimum of 6.5 Band Score; PTE Academic - Minimum 53; Pearson's Test of English - 53.
