The mission of the teacher education program at the Campbellsville University School of Education is to prepare teachers for their respective fields by providing an academic infrastructure based on scholarship, service and Christian leadership. The primary goal of the program is to advance scholars who are competent, caring and qualified, who can positively impact student learning, and who are committed to life-long learning in a global society.
Certification is available in the following grade levels/content areas
- P-5 Elementary Education
- 5-9 Middle Grades Education – Option 1
- 5-9 Middle Grades Education – Option 2
- 8-12 Secondary Education
- P-12 Education
P-5 Elementary Education
To pass the Elementary Education Multiple Subjects test, you must receive a passing score on each subtest. You must take the full test on your initial attempt. If, after your first attempt you did not pass one of the individual subtests, you may take just that subtest again for a reduced fee.
- Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K – 6 (5622) AND
- Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (5001)
- Reading and Language Arts Subtest (5002)
- Mathematics Subtest (5003)
- Social Studies Subtest (5004)
- Science Subtest (5005)
5-9 Middle Grades Education – Option 1
In Middle Grades Education, Option I, the student chooses one area from the following: English, Math, Science, or Social Studies. Upon successful completion of all program requirements – student teaching and passing all required Praxis II exams, the student will be certified to teach middle school in their chosen area.
5-9 Middle Grades Education – Option 2
In Middle Grades Education, Option II, the student chooses two areas from the following: English, Math, Science, or Social Studies. Upon successful completion of all program requirements – student teaching, and passing all required Praxis II exams, the student will be certified to teach middle school in their chosen areas..
8-12 Secondary Education
In Secondary Grades Education, the student chooses one area from the following: Biology, Chemistry, English, Math, or Social Studies. Upon successful completion of all program requirements – student teaching, and passing all required Praxis II exams, the student will be certified to teach high school in their chosen area.
P-12 Education
In P-12 Education, the student chooses from the following: Art, Health/Physical Education, Music (instrumental or vocal), or special education . Upon successful completion of all program requirements – student teaching and passing all required Praxis II exams, the student will be certified to teach any grade level in their chosen area.

Otherwise, 5.5 Band Score with 5.5 in each section, or SAT I - Reading and Writing of 550, or ACT - English 22, or AP English Language and Composition - 3 or higher, or AP English Literature and Composition - 3 or higher, or GTEC (Global Test of English Communication) - 1075, or IB Eng A Language and Literature - HL4, or IB Eng A Literature - HL4, or Fresno State's American English Institute - Advanced Level, or ELS Language Centers - Level 112, or FLS International Language School - Level 16, or TLC The Language Company - Level 9, or UC Davis IEPP - Level 800, or UCLA Extension - Level 6, or Pearson's Test of English - 45.
