專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么？
The program leads to the professional degree of Master of Public Administration. It provides pre-service students with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective administration of local, state, and federal government agencies and of nonprofit organizations. It also offers mid-career administrators and professionals in public service an opportunity to improve their management skills and qualifications. For the convenience of students who are employed full-time, all courses are offered in the evening. Alumni assist with orientation and mentoring activities.
The MPA program provides each student with a basic understanding of the environment of public policy and the ability to deal with:
- Political and legal institutions and processes
- Economic and social institutions and processes
- Organization and management concepts, and human resource administration
- Concepts and techniques of budgeting and financial administration
- Application of quantitative and qualitative techniques of analysis in policy and program formulation, implementation and evaluation, and decision making and problem solving
Students also develop the ability to:
Define and diagnose public problems, engage in supported decision-making, collect relevant data including big data, perform logical analyses, develop alternatives, implement an effective and ethical course of action, and evaluate results
- Organize and communicate information clearly to a variety of audiences through formats including oral presentations, written memoranda and technical reports, and statistical charts, graphs, and tables
- Recognize and value diversity and diverse viewpoints within the community, and integrate diverse view into community problem solutions
- Apply information technology to public administration problems, including community service provision and cybersecurity of systems

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited and approved institution from a foreign country, or the completion of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Hold a GPA of at least 2.5 (from the 0.0-4.0 U.S. grading scale) in the last degree completed, or a GPA of 2.5 in the last two years of full-time study. Good academic standing at the last institution attended. English Language Requirements: TOEFL: 550 (Paper Based), 213 (Computer Based); 80 (Internet Based); IELTS score 6.5; PTE: 53.
