Physical Education majors help children develop fundamental motor skills that lead to the promotion of healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes toward lifelong physical activity. In addition, physical educators commonly serve as coaches for interscholastic sports. There are unique requirements associated with teacher certification and licensure that are standard across the Teacher Education program.

English language requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 71 or higher (iBT); 530 or higher (paper test); IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - 5.5 or higher; ACT or SAT - ACT English 18+ OR SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing 500+; USD Intensive English Program (IEP) Successful completion of USD’s Intensive English Program Level 3; ELS Language Center Successful completion of the ELS English for Academic Purposes level 112; Cambridge International Examinations - English subject A-Level with C or higher; International Baccalaureate (IB) - IB English A (4 or higher) or IB English B (6 or higher).
