If you want a broad degree of flexibility in choosing a career after graduation, the sociology major lets you explore careers in human services, public administration and management and provide a general background for graduate work in social sciences public policy, law and social work.

Concentration in Social Gerontology
The criminology concentration in the Sociology/Anthropology Department is especially relevant to students considering a career in law enforcement and human services agencies such as the federal, state and local police, correctional institutions, security organizations and judicial organizations. The program includes opportunities to earn academic credit for internship experiences with community police, court and probation agencies, juvenile detention centers and other agencies involved in counseling, criminal justice and reform.
This concentration in the Sociology/Anthropology Department introduces majors to the theoretical, research, policy and practical issues relevant to careers that involve working with the aged, developing or administering government programs aimed at older people, creating social policy on aging, and acting as a gerontological consultant in the business and public sectors.
