Have an interest in applying your physics or computer knowledge to biology or medicine? SRU's Computational Biophysics program is an interdisciplinary concentration that applies the concepts and methods of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science to understand the biological processes of living organisms.
WHY CHOOSE COMPUTATIONAL BIOPHYSICS?
New breakthroughs and innovations in molecular biology, biotechnology, and medicine are occurring at the intersection between biology, physics, computer science, and engineering. The job and graduate school market for students with these interdisciplinary skills is exceptionally high. If you who want to enter a graduate program in biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, biophysics, medical physics, molecular biology, and neurobiology, the Computational Biophysics major at SRU is an ideal choice for you.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
As a graduate of this program, you'll have a strong background in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, and computer science. You'll also have valuable skills in problem solving and teamwork. You'll learn through a project-based, hands-on curriculum, culminating with a research experience under the supervision of a faculty member. You will have the opportunity to present the outcomes of your research work at regional or national conferences.
