The curriculum in this program will give you the opportunity to connect with other cultures, understand global issues, and correlate what you learn in the classroom to global settings. You will study history, politics, languages and anthropology. You will have the opportunity to have diverse experiences and through internships, apply what you've learned in real-world situations.
WHY CHOOSE CULTURAL AREA STUDIES?
As an Interdisciplinary Studies major, you will be ready to take leadership roles in an increasingly globalized and interconnected world. Knowledge of history, culture, politics, and language is essential for your understanding of the today's complex world. The education you receive will prepare you to excel in situations of domestic and international conflict and conflict resolution, migration and refugee status, poverty, and health and environmental concerns. An added bonus of Interdisciplinary Programs is the ability to design your course of study as a single major or as a second major linked to another field of study. If you are interested in making a difference in the world, this program is well-suited to your passion.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You will learn how societies and cultures develop, grow, change and interact within and between other societies. Cultural sensitivity and literacy, including language skills, are important areas that will be developed through an interdisciplinary curriculum that emphasizes theoretical classroom knowledge that is applied through student faculty research, internships and practicums, and international travel and study.
CAREERS IN CULTURAL AREA STUDIES
With a major in Cultural Area Studies, you will be well-positioned to begin a wide variety of career, including International NGOs and International Non-Profit Agencies, Airline and Travel Jobs, Teacher/Professor, International Law, Environmental Agencies, Business, Health and Education. Career opportunities are greatly increased when a cultural field is combined with another major or minor.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 International applicants who have not enrolled in any post secondary institution since graduating high school should apply as freshmen. Advanced standing may be considered for those students who have completed IB programs, GCE A-levels (advanced or advanced subsidiary) examinations. English language requirements: Applicants must score a minimum of 61 on the internet based test (iBT), a minimum of 500 on the written test or a minimum of a 173 on the computer based test. Applicants must receive an overall IELTS score at band 6.0 or above.
