在這里學(xué)什么?
The SRU Anthropology Program, offered as both a major and a minor, is experiencing a period of regrowth and renewal, reflecting the nature of the discipline. As an Anthropology student, you will be exposed to a diverse and balanced curriculum spanning the sub-disciplines of anthropology including archaeology, biocultural anthropology, and cultural anthropology. The curriculum is strongly science-based in its method and theory, and will encourage you to apply what you've learned to potential careers in technological, service, environmental, heritage and medical fields.
WHY CHOOSE ANTHROPOLOGY?
The Anthropology program will encourage you to challenge assumptions and traditional ways of viewing the world. With a focus on cultural and biological diversity, faculty members embark on a journey with you to uncover the vast array of human behaviors of the past and present. You will also be encouraged to participate in international travel and study abroad opportunities to broaden your horizons. Every career in today's job market can be enriched with an anthropological perspective. You will have an inherent competitive advantage in our increasingly globalized and interconnected world with a strong background in anthropology.
You will gain skills and experiences in the classroom with real-world application, regardless of your career path. You will begin the program by enrolling in Introduction to Anthropology, which covers the fundamentals of human evolution, the culture concept, and cultural diversity on all its levels. You will then select your specific area of emphasis, with existing tracks in:
? Applied anthropology, including medical and environmental approaches
? Archaeology and cultural management
? Cultural anthropology
? Evolution and biological anthropology
You'll finish the degree with Applied Anthropology, the seminar course, in which you'll explore all aspects of a career in anthropology. Through this capstone experience, you'll develop a portfolio of job skills, requirements, and access points for your desired career.
