Prepare for a rewarding career promoting sport and wellness in a variety of settings with young people of all abilities.
A degree in physical activity studies will allow you to develop a diverse skill set that prepares you to work in a variety of health, sport and physical-activity based professions. You can pursue careers in sport coaching, wellness, physical activity, working with sport-based youth development programs, community organizations, park and recreation departments, fitness centers, assisted living and nursing homes, daycare, government and not-for-profit agencies.

Teaching Adapted Physical Education
Learn to craft physical education to maximize learning for those with physical or intellectual disabilities. Through coursework, you’ll understand how to apply knowledge of the characteristics, considerations, and movement abilities of common impairments to meet the needs, limitations and capacities of students with disabilities.
Sport-Based Youth Development
Adelphi University’s mission in sport-based youth development is to lead the field in education, training and research, thereby enhancing the practice of sport-based youth development locally, nationally and globally. This specialization prepares students for leadership positions in nonprofit organizations, interscholastic/intercollegiate sports settings, school systems, sport and summer camps, recreational and athletic leagues, professional sports settings and the corporate social responsibility sector of for-profit organizations.
School District Leadership in Administration in Physical Education, Health and Athletics
Acquire skills necessary to be a school district leader for positions such as athletic director, health and physical education director, or other district leader positions. The focus is on administrative functions of supervision, leadership development, district governance, financial management of district resources (human, facilities information and budgetary), curriculum innovation, and technological initiatives. Upon completion of programmatic requirements, students will earn the New York State District License.
