When you decide to become a principal, you take the next step toward becoming an effective leader who can make a difference in your school. The University of Dayton online Principal Licensure Preparation Program is designed for professionals looking to become principals in Ohio, who have already earned a master’s degree and hold a valid teaching license.
Attending a principal preparation program online allows you to continue working, gaining the teaching experience required to obtain licensure. After completing the program, you will be prepared to sit for the principal licensure exam and become a principal in public, private and community schools. If interested in becoming a principal in a different state, you will need to research the requirements in the state you wish to practice prior to enrolling in this program.
Curriculum
Housed in the School of Education and Health Sciences, the online Principal Licensure Preparation Program takes a holistic approach toward shaping principals who will understand all aspects of leadership and what it takes to run a school.
The program consists of 18 credits and can be completed in less than two years. You will participate in the following courses:
Principalship
Assessment and Instruction for School Improvement
Staff Personnel
School Law
School Finance
Internship
Obtaining Principal Licensure
The Principal Licensure Preparation program fulfills the academic eligibility requirements to sit for the licensure exam in Ohio. It does not guarantee licensure in your state as certification requirements vary from state to state. Students are strongly encouraged to research the licensure requirements in the state in which they intend to practice.

為來自中國的學生設(shè)計 In addition to a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, applicants should have exposure to a variety of research and analytical or critical methods during their undergraduate studies. Applicants should have earned a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based (IB) test is required for full admission. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for full admission. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): A minimum score of 60 is required for full admission.
