As a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Dayton, you'll gain the knowledge and skills needed to become a successful counselor in community-based and private counseling sessions. We embrace a holistic approach to working with individuals, families and communities, and you'll learn to use leading methodologies to practice effectively in any environment.
This 60-semester hour master's degree program incorporates a generalist curriculum. The program's structure allows you to choose to complete the degree in 2.5 or 3.5 calendar years.
Program objectives
Successful participation in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program enables you to demonstrate:
Professional counselor identity.
Knowledge, skills and dispositions to enable an appreciation of cultural differences and their influence on counseling practice.
Ability to apply an understanding of the process of human development as holistic — involving mind, body and spirit, spanning a lifetime, and resulting in varying outcomes due to the interactions between individual and environmental factors.
Ability to successfully practice clinical mental health counseling in public and private behavioral health care systems.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 In addition to a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, applicants should have exposure to a variety of research and analytical or critical methods during their undergraduate studies. Applicants should have earned a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based (IB) test is required for full admission. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for full admission. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): A minimum score of 60 is required for full admission.
