As a graduate student in the School Counseling program at the University of Dayton, you'll gain the knowledge and skills for employment as a professional school counselor in a K-12 school system. Our faculty work to empower you to embrace holistic, ethical and innovative approaches to your personal life, professional endeavors, and the school system in which you serve.
Our 48-credit hour master's degree program incorporates 600 internship hours in a school setting. You'll integrate scholarly theory with the opportunity to serve, which will allow you to develop as a counselor.
Upon completion of the master's degree, the Ohio Department of Education requires the Ohio Assessment for Educators (OAE) specialty examination in school counseling.
Program objectives
Demonstrate a professional school counselor identity through participation in professional organizations, acquisition of ethical and legal knowledge and recognition of a professional developmental process.
Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and dispositions to enable an appreciation of cultural differences and their influence on counseling practice.
Demonstrate the ability to apply an understanding of the process of human development as holistic.
Demonstrate abilities to successfully practice school counselor professional duties in the K-12 school setting by acquiring the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to design and implement comprehensive school counseling programs as defined by the ASCA National Model.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) In addition to a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, applicants should have exposure to a variety of research and analytical or critical methods during their undergraduate studies. Applicants should have earned a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based (IB) test is required for full admission. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for full admission. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): A minimum score of 60 is required for full admission.
