The MSN program in Hospice and Palliative Care will provide nurses the theory and practice to deliver advanced nursing care for end-of-life and chronic care patients and their support person(s). Nurses completing this program of study will be eligible for certification by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Center, be able to progress up an organization's clinical ladder structure and open themselves up for leadership opportunities.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the MSN in Hospice & Palliative Care Program of Study, the graduate will be prepared to:
- Utilize appropriate theories from nursing and related fields to respond to emerging health care challenges;
- Apply ethical analysis and clinical reasoning to assess, intervene, and evaluate advanced nursing care delivery;
- Understand how to influence health care policy for the purpose of advocating for clients and community;
- Use quality processes and improvement science to evaluate care and ensure patient safety for individuals and communities;
- Synthesize evidence for practice to determine appropriate application of interventions across all populations affected by end-of-life and chronic care;
- Incorporate global nursing knowledge, attitudes, and skills in planning, implementing, and evaluating hospice and palliative care practice;
- Integrate interprofessional collaboration and informatics to make changes in the hospice and palliative care environment to improve delivery of care;
- Develop leadership skills and integrate scholarship into nursing practice through participation in praxis courses; and
- Meet the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials for Masters Education in Nursing

為來自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.70 (some programs require a 3.00) on a 4.00 point scale (where A is 4.00), or its equivalent, and good standing (3.00 GPA) in all post-baccalaureate course work is required. TOEFL with a score of no less than 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT); a 6.5 on the IELTS is also acceptable.
