Prepares graduates to tackle global issues such as population growth, climate change, water scarcity and pollution, fossil fuels, environmental toxins, and alternative energy. The program provides the core science necessary for understanding environmental problems in sustainability and examines the complex interrelationships between natural, social, and political systems.
Learning Outcomes
- Students should have a thorough understanding and/or competency in a specific area of biology in addition to a broad-based and integrative standing of basic biological concepts.
- Students should demonstrate an ability to effectively convey, both orally and in writing, an advanced understanding of biological content, methods, and issues.
- Students should demonstrate an ability to locate, critically analyze, interpret, and discuss primary research literature within the biological sciences.
- Students should demonstrate knowledge of up-to-date scientific tools and techniques
- Students should demonstrate an awareness of contemporary scientific issues including ethics and the impact of science on society.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.70 (some programs require a 3.00) on a 4.00 point scale (where A is 4.00), or its equivalent, and good standing (3.00 GPA) in all post-baccalaureate course work is required. TOEFL with a score of no less than 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT); a 6.5 on the IELTS is also acceptable.
