The Bachelor of Arts in Spanish program explores both the linguistic and the social aspects of Spanish culture. Students will master intermediate skills in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish; examine creative expressions of the language in relevant literature; and place it all in context through coursework in the history of Spain. Twelve required credits of electives approved by faculty will allow students to customize their studies to best suit various career paths. A Bachelor of Science option is available to students who also wish to gain teaching certification. Students also may elect to pursue an Inter-University B.A. or B.S. in Spanish, which requires completion of 12 credits over one semester at a CCSU Spanish-speaking partner institution abroad.
Learning Outcomes
- Speak at an Advanced Low oral proficiency in the target language.
- Write at an Advanced Low written proficiency in the target language.
- Use the target language to discuss major topics related to the cultures of countries where the target language is spoken.
- Use the target language to discuss the works of major authors of countries where the target language is spoken.
