Operations management is the study of transformation processes: how to get things done and produced, with minimal time, effort, and cost—and maximum quality. The result? The effective use of resources: people, money, machinery, facilities, material, and information.
Operations management is at the center of an organization. It's a growing field that will draw on your skills in communications, computer technology, decision-making, planning, problem-solving, quantitative methods, and team building—with career paths such as: business process analyst; distribution management; healthcare management; import/export operations; logistics; purchasing; supply chain management; quality management; transportation.
Your opportunities can be global, working for and with suppliers all over the world.
Operations management major
Our expert faculty will prepare you to apply decision models and information technology to solve business problems and explore new business opportunities. You'll learn techniques applicable to manufacturing and service-provider organizations, and gain competence in: computer technology; quantitative methods; management of the supply chain from vendors to customers; planning and problem-solving techniques.
Operations management majors select one of three options: general operations management; service operations management; supply chain management.
For the BS in operations management, you'll complete total 120 credit hours, consisting of University Studies courses, business foundation courses, and accounting courses.
