You'll love becoming a teacher for K-6 grade students. The state-approved program for teacher certification at NSU offers exceptional preparation and an unparalleled network of educators. Find your professional place by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
What you’ll study: As you progress through the elementary education major, you'll demonstrate that you have met Florida state requirements including Florida state testing, field experiences, and the internship seminar. Learn the lesson planning and management skills that you'll use daily in the classroom. Study best practices for the arts, mathematics, science, social studies, reading, and English as a Second Language (ESOL).
How you’ll learn more: Your final course will be an intensive internship consisting of 12 weeks of teaching while also examining your performance in a seminar. NSU has excellent relationships with schools, including its own University School. You may take online courses or attend one of several regional campuses in Florida. The choice is yours.
Where it can take you: With successful passage of state certification exams, you'll be ready to find a classroom of your own. Create your own style of teaching while meeting state and national standards and connect with the joy of learning. Over time, you could become a school or district leader, and support the future of other teachers.
